Devastator Chess ... A New Fusion
Herein contains a completely new game using
the popular SWCCG and an Age Old Favorite - Chess.
This game has entirely new strategies.
It uses only the movement of chess pieces
so if you are bad at chess that doesn't mean
you'll be bad at this game.
The game was designed June 10-24 , 1996
RULES :
-
Pawns move as normal.
They "Queen" Like normal Pawns
-
-
Knights move as they normally would
-
Rooks can only move 3 squares at a time
-
Bishops can only move 3 squares at atime.
-
Queens only move 2 squares at a time but
can move either diagnoally or horizontally.
-
The king moves as normal
-
The turn sequence is like a normal turn
sequence in star wars with a few differences.
-
You activate force like normal, count the number
of sites you have and what they give you in force,
just like in normal star wars :CCG.
-
You deploy as you normally would , but with a
slight twist.
-
When you deploy an Ability 1 character, put a pawn
out on the board.
-
When you deploy an Ability 2 Character, put a knight
or bishop out on the board.
-
When you deploy an Ability 3 character, put a rook
out on the board.
-
When you deploy an ability 4 , 5, or 6 character put
the queen or king out on the board.
-
Note a higher ability character may assume a lower
caste piece.
-
The piece which was deploy in correspondence with the
character now represents that character throughout
the game.
-
Movement and Battle. The battle and movement phases are
intertwined. You draw a destiny card and that is the
number of pieces you may move. Note it takes 1 force to
move a character that pieces regular movement. When
2 or more pieces end up in the same square combat occurs.
-
Combat - Is played out just like normal starwars, If the
sum of the ability on either side exceeds or equals 4 you
draw destiny like usual. Losses in the form of card losses
at the end of battle are counted double. So if Han (a rook)
moved in the same space as Feltipern Trevagg (a pawn) since
Han's power is 3 , Trevagg's 2 the dark side loses 2 force.
Another example : Light side drew a destiny for move - and drew
3 , so they can move 3 pieces. He decides to move a rook
(han solo) 3 squares north for 1 force, then moved Obi-Wan (queen)
2 squares diagonally southwest for 1 force (also ending up in
same space as Prophetess (rook - since queen is already taken
by Vader, and King taken by Djas Puhr). Finally light side moved
Luke (king) 1 square south also ending up in Prophetess square.
Note you cannot normally end up in the same square under normal
movement Only if you are going to engage in battle. After
the battle you are allowed to stay in that square but next turn
must leave. If you can't you forfeit that piece. In the
resultant battle the prophetess draws a destiny of 5. The
light side has much force in their pool but can't make anyone
of ability leave since only the prophetess is there. They draw
a destiny of 0. Obi-Wan uses his lightsaber to mow down the
prophetess (rook) so she will be lost and out of the game forever
(as well as the rook piece) she will also count forfeit 0
since she was hit with the obi-wan lightsaber (TM). The total power
on lightside was 11 dark was 1. So dark side loses 20 force.
And loses a rook. If a piece loses in battle but is not
taken out by a weapon or by attrition they are put aside and
may return for force paid equal to their ability. They start
again in any legal starting square for their piece type.
-
Draw up - This is the same as in starwars :CCG.
-
Playing location - Location sites are played alone the bottom
on the chess board. Simply place the pieces under the correct
slot (1-8). Pawns' character's are also played underneath the
starting position of the slot. So if dark drew kitik keedkak
and placed it as a pawn on the king file, you'd placed keedkak
off the board just under the king file. (If your chess board
is too small markthat keekkak is in the king file somehow).
When kitik reached the last rank and gets promoted it can now
move like whatever piece you promote it to.
-
En passent plays like normal, though there is generally so much
movement this is rare to occur.
-
Castling can still happen.
-
WINNER = The objective is to rid your opponent of either all his
cars or all his chess pieces.
-
Force drain, you may force drain as usual but with a twist - you can
only force drain at an opponent's site. And you automatically
force drain for 1 if you are on the opponents 1st rank (your 8th rank).
-
Site rules - When you are on your 8th rank or your 1st rank
you experience whatever sites are played on those locations.
So if you played obi-wan's hut you would get to deploy obi-wan
at 3 cheaper. Likewise the dark side if they had a piece there
could drain for more.
-
A lightsaber will give you +1 drain anywhere on the board.
-
Vehicles give you 1 extramovement over and above the piece's
normal movement by spending 1 force. The 1 extramovement however
can be taken in any direction. If the vehicle moves for free
like luke in his landspeeder than you may still move for free.
The concept of multiple passengers is not relevant.
-
SPecial Cards :
-
Nabrun Leids/Elis Helrot - Allow you to move to any square
-
Draw x force in combat ( e.g. I Have you now), these play as normal in
combat.
-
Seekers - Are played anywhere on the board where there isn't a piece
they move as normal (1 square in anydirection during your control phase).
Move for 1 force. Mark them on the board somehow.
(dt>
Docking bay sites - Yes you may pop from docking bay to docking
bay for whatever it costs you (yes this means sometimes you'll
go from your 1st rank to your 8th rank).
-
Revolution - still turns a site like normal, you just play it on
any site and the effects (force draw etc) are reversed.
-
Planets/Starships - They play just like any other vehicle and give
you 1 extra piece move for 1 force and planets play like normal
also giving your force everyturn.
